Cloud Backup Service
Security and Peace of Mind..
Your Pacific Solutions business management system is mission critical to the success of your business. Protecting the data through proper system backups is absolutely imperative. Theft, fire, hardware failures or system viruses can lead to hundreds of hours in lost productivity and can cost thousands of dollars to recover the data. Pacific Solutions software agreement clearly advises, “In order to protect your vital business information, it is imperative that you back up all Pacific Solutions software on a daily basis. Pacific Solutions recommends a combination of local storage and cloud based backups.”
Local backups to an external storage device, such as an external hard drive, will always serve as your primary data backup. It is the responsibility of your IT provider to set up and monitor the local primary backup so that you have the peace of mind knowing that your backed up data is current and secure. Always instruct your IT provider to show you where the backups are stored, and train you on the best way to verify and access the backups. All too often, backups are needed only to discover that they are either out of date, you don’t know where the backups are stored, or you aren’t sure how to access the data. When setting up the local primary backup, the Pacific Solutions help desk is available to advise your IT provider which folders and directories need to be backed up on a daily basis. Each night, the external drive where the daily backups are stored should be placed in a fire safe rated for data, or taken off site. In addition to the primary data backup, Pacific Solutions highly recommends a secondary redundant cloud based backup. There are a wide variety of cloud based backup services. Most of these services backup the database on a nightly basis but do not archive a monthly backup in addition to the weekly backups.

How is Pacific Solutions’ Data Backup Subscription different from other cloud based backups?
Every day at a scheduled time, the Pacific Solutions backup utility will locate your JobRunner or FloorManager data files, compress and encrypt those files, and transfer them securely to the backup server. The servers are located in the southeastern United States, have backup generators, are stored in concrete reinforced buildings located 260 feet above sea level and are monitored 24 hours per day seven days per week 365 days per year. The secondary backup utility is programmed to securely back up your data for 7 consecutive days before it begins to overwrite the oldest version. We also retain one copy each consecutive month in addition to the consecutive 7 day backups. Since a virus can cause a data corruption that isn’t immediately visible, the monthly backups enable us to retrieve stored backups previous to the 7-day recurring backups. This way we can see what the data looked like prior to any corruption. At the end of each business year, you will have 19 available backups. At the start of the new year, the monthly backups begin to overwrite previously monthly backups starting with the oldest archived copy. Our backup service will notify our IT managers via the Pacific Solutions’ help desk in the event that the backup is unsuccessful for any reason.
